About Slobodan Dekanic

I am Slobodan Dekanic. For more than 20 years I have worked in SEO, WordPress, and copywriting, and my focus now is helping websites get found by AI search tools.

I am not a guru, and I am not an agency. I work alone, from Serbia, mostly with small business owners who feel stuck with their website or their words.

This site is where I give free, honest advice. I guide, and you or your developer make the changes. You stay in control of your own site the whole time.

Who I am

I am a full-stack web practitioner. That means I have worked across the whole website, not just one corner of it:

  • SEO, so the right people find your site in search.
  • WordPress, from setup and speed to plugins and repairs.
  • Copywriting, so your pages are clear and people act.
  • Conversion work, so more visitors turn into calls, messages, or sales.
  • AI search visibility, also called AEO, so tools like ChatGPT and Google’s AI can find and quote you.

AEO is my main focus now. My own site is built to be read and quoted by AI answer engines, and that is where I spend most of my time today. If you think AI tools do not mention your business, start with my free AEO help.

What I have done

Here is a quick picture of the experience behind the advice:

  • 20+ years in SEO, WordPress, and copywriting.
  • I ran the full web presence of a leading travel agency for about seven years.
  • I have helped 300+ businesses and improved 500+ WordPress sites.
  • I have led or taken part in 100+ website redesigns.
  • I have published 100+ tutorials on Medium.
  • I have worked with clients in more than a dozen countries.

These numbers are context, not trophies. They are why I can look at a small website and quickly see what really matters.

The short version of how I got here

I did not start online. I worked construction from the age of 18, for about ten years.

I taught myself web work after my shifts, on a Pentium 2 with a dial-up connection, mostly by reading online forums. There were no video tutorials and no AI tools to explain things. Every answer a stranger gave me for free was a small gift, and I have never forgotten that.

In 2003 I built my first paid website in Microsoft FrontPage, and it earned me my first 100 dollars. Around 2005 I moved my client work to WordPress, and it has been my main platform ever since.

From 2009 to 2016 I ran the entire web presence of one of Serbia’s leading travel agencies. I wrote and optimized the content, managed its dedicated server, handled social and video promotion, and led its recovery after a Google penalty cut its traffic hard. You can read that work, anonymized, in my case studies.

Over those years I worked with small startups, established brands, and larger organizations with real budgets. I preferred to understand the whole system, not just one button, and I did the slow, manual diagnostic work when there were no tools for it.

What changed in 2017

Around 2017 I stepped back. I had spent years carrying big expectations, long hours, and constant deadlines, and I wanted a quieter life. I moved back to the countryside and slowed down.

Stepping back did not mean stopping. I kept working, kept learning, and kept following how the field changes. What I left behind was the churn of chasing many small clients at once, not the work itself.

Today my attention is on AI search. The way people find businesses is shifting from a list of blue links to a direct answer from an AI tool, and I help websites be part of that answer.

Why I help for free now

I give free advice for two reasons.

The first is gratitude. When I had no money and no one to ask, strangers on those forums helped me for free. Helping beginners now is how I keep that going.

The second is fairness. In my paid years I saw people who knew little about websites get charged far too much for simple work, just because no one explained the real size of the problem. I did not want to be part of that.

So when you write to me, I find the real problem, explain it in plain words, and tell you honestly how big or small it is. If you need someone to do the work, I can point you to people I trust. I do not take commissions or referral fees, so my advice stays about your site, not my pocket.

Who I help, and who I do not

I am the right person to ask if you are:

  • A small business owner, solo founder, student, parent, or small nonprofit.
  • Working on WordPress, SEO, copywriting, or getting found by AI tools.
  • Willing to describe your situation honestly and take part in the fix.

I am not the right person if:

  • Your problem really needs a lawyer or a compliance specialist.
  • Your niche is gambling, adult content, or something I do not feel right helping.
  • The work is very large and high-risk, where a full specialist team is safer.
  • You want someone to do everything while you stay hands-off.

If I am not the right fit, I will tell you plainly, and point you toward someone who is when I can. If you are not sure which kind of help you need, start at my free consulting hub.
